Marc’s Book Report Styles and Other Forms
(from extensivereading.net with permission)
These are four forms I use for extensive reading reaction reports.
I ask students to use each one at least once. After that, they decide which they want to use.
Having different forms (a) provides variety and (b) works with different learning styles/intelligences.
The forms are:
- Summary/ reaction
- Draw a picture. Artistic/kinesthetic/visual.
- Your own questions. Analytical skills. Also encourages learners to preview the book.
- The book and you. Intrapersonal.
These are followed by the overall “books read” summary (My reading), the grading scheme and the form in the books that learners use to evaluation the books and share those evaluations with other students.
Feel free to modify these in any way you like to fit your program.
